(TRENTON, NJ - December 6, 2006) The Boston Pops and conductor Keith Lockhart bring their ever-popular holiday tour to the Sovereign Bank Arena on December 17 at 1pm, sharing a cherished Boston tradition with audiences throughout the Trenton region. Mr. Lockhart leads “America’s Orchestra” – plus a full chorus – in a host of familiar holiday favorites such as “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Santa Baby,” “Mary’s Little Boy Child,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” Bach’s gentle “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” the traditional “Sweet Little Jesus Child,” and the rousing “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.
The Pops will perform beloved Christmas favorites including “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “What Child Is This?” and “Sleigh Ride,” written by former Boston Pops arranger Leroy Anderson. This varied program of light seasonal melodies and uplifting classics features selections from the Pops’ most recent holiday recording, Sleigh Ride, such as “O Holy Night” and the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. The concert also includes Chanukah melodies like “Drei Dredeleh” with Rabbi Avi Weiss’ thoughts on Chanukah, as well as a sampling of listener-friendly music by classical masters like Bach and Handel. The performance concludes with a visit from Santa and the chance to join the Pops in its “Merry Little Sing-Along” with tunes like “Let It Snow” and “Winter Wonderland.”
