RECORD-BREAKING HOLIDAY CARD FOR TROOPS TO APPEAR AT SOVEREIGN BANK ARENA

(TRENTON, NJ - December 6, 2006) The Sovereign Bank Arena will help break records for the troops on Thursday, December 7 by displaying twenty-foot long sections of a banner holiday card for American Troops stationed in Iraq. The public is invited to sign the over-sized card at Gate A of the arena between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the New Jersey State Worker’s Blood Drive.

The banner was made in Hamilton and began as a twenty-foot long holiday banner for American Troops overseas and is now over 550 feet in length with over 20,000 signatures. The card will visit injured troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and will then be delivered to troops stationed in Iraq.

The card will also make an appearance at two Trenton Titans games this weekend against the Bakersfield Condors, including Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday night at 7 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to sign the card during the games across from sections 116/117 and at the main escalator across from sections 106/107.

The card and its growing, record-breaking size were recently featured on a Fox news report and has all ready been assessed by the Guinness Book of World Records as a likely new record entry. The card is also featured on Fox’s homepage to encourage viewers to add their names to the Mayor of Hamilton’s long-standing internet “yellow ribbon” campaign honoring service members. The first of its kind in the nation, the internet yellow-ribbon campaign allows visitors to the website to click on a yellow ribbon icon and have their name and a yellow ribbon added to the hundreds already there for soldiers overseas to see.
