MIXED MARTIAL ARTS CAGE FIGHTING TAKES OVER THE SOVEREIGN BANK ARENA ON FRIDAY, MARCH 23, EXTREME CHALLENGE 75 INCLUDES OVER 15 PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR MATCHES, TICKETS WENT ON SALE FEBRUARY 21 AT 10 A.M
The sport known as mixed martial arts features competitors from various martial arts and Olympic sports, such as karate, jiu-jitsu, muay thai, tae kwon do, boxing, kick-boxing, wrestling and judo. The competitors are highly skilled in multiple martial arts disciplines and compete against each other in a combative sporting event. There is no predetermined outcome as to the victor of the bout. In that sense, mixed martial arts competitions are similar to boxing and kick-boxing matches. The contests are not scripted like most professional wrestling events.
The main heavyweight event for the night will feature Jon Murphy from Anthracite Combast Club vs. Sherman Pendergarst, a UFC Veteran from Miletich Fighting Systems. In the USKBA Heavyweight Northeast Championship, Sean McCaan from Team Endgame takes on Tim Boetch from Ramsey BJJ.
In an exciting rematch, John Doyle from Team MFS/Daddis takes on Brendan Barrett from Ronin Grappling/Phil Nurse in an Extreme Challenge East Light-Heavyweight Title Bout.
Over ten other exciting martial arts bouts will take place at the Sovereign Bank Arena on March 23, 2007.
**Card subject to change.
